hOW IT STARTED
On our family farm in Butler, Maryland, we provide nothing but the best natural farm products and services. Our farm started in 1988 as a side project for Gary Shaffer. He was a pioneer in the landscape/erosion control business in Maryland. He grew up on a farm near Pretty Boy Dam. Having slow winter months, Gary realized he needed to find other means to keep busy. At Blue Heron Farm, he raised cattle and was able to keep his workers busy splitting firewood. In Western Maryland there was also a Christmas Tree Farm where we would plant and harvest Christmas Trees. There were close to 100,000 trees planted. The farm went on to be the first Christmas Tree Farm in the United States to sell Christmas Trees to Mexico. Gary Shaffer donated Christmas Trees to The White House in 1990 and also the Japanese ambassadors’ residence on Embassy Row in Washington, DC. Today, we have made a name for ourselves in beef, firewood, and Christmas Trees and are grateful to be able to continue serving our community.

Our premium firewood can be delivered in quantities of 1/4 cord, 1/2 cord, 1 cord, or up to 2 cords or more! Call or text to order! We also have bundles available at our gate with oak or mixed hardwoods! Special orders are also available!
